Zurich sponsors The Carmen Project – An ESF and Scottish Opera collaboration

The Carmen Project, organized by The English Schools Foundations (ESF) in collaboration with Scottish Opera and sponsored by Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong), has been held successfully at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts on 23 Sep 2011.

The opera performance was kick-started by the opening speech of Mrs. Heather Du Quesnay, Chief Executive Officer of ESF, extended her gratitude to Zurich for its continuous support. In return, Mr. Allan Yu, Director of General Business, Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) wished ESF every success in elevating quality children education and talent development in the future.

Around 200 Years 10 to 13 students from seven ESF schools worked with a team of artists from the Scottish Opera to produce a cross-curricular expressive arts project based on the music and plot of Georges Bizet's opera – Carmen. Through taking part in various roles – as singers, orchestral players, composers, librettists, costume designers and film makers, the students successfully brought two fabulous shows to over 600 audience.
