Gifted Children’s Sound of Talent Contest 2008

The Gifted Children's Sound of Talent Contest 2008, title-sponsored by Zurich and organised by Next Magazine, aimed at providing children aged 6 to 12 years with a chance to show their talents in playing musical instruments including piano, violin, cello and flute.

Short-listed candidates from preliminary contest held in April competed for gold, silver and bronze awards in the final competition held on 10 and 11 May respectively. 12 winners got fabulous prizes including the Zurich Young Musician Scholarship worth HK$3,000.

On 17 May, all winners of this competition gathered at Wellcome Theaterm Bethanie for a grand presentation concert. Kevin Lee, Senior Head of Operations Hong Kong & Commercial Head, Asia, Life Insurance Asia, Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) made an opening remark, "Music has a positive effect on a developing child, as it cultivates a good personality and temperament. Zurich fully supports Gifted Children Sound Talent Contest 2008, a highly worthwhile event that discovers and nurtures children's musical talents. It involves a rich learning process, which offers contestants marvellous opportunities to fully realise their natural gifts. Through taking part, children gain confidence and courage."
