Zurich General Insurance delivers when it matters
In the afternoon of 6 October, 2011, after hearing a mishap happened in Beijing of three customers who were under Zurich's travel policy, Zurich General Insurance staff took prompt actions to help and truly demonstrated the spirit of Zurich HelpPoint.
On the third day of a five-day trip in Beijing, the three customers were hit and dragged under an unattended tour bus that rolled down a slope near Jurong Gate of The Great Wall and unfortunately were killed on the scene. When it came to the knowledge of Zurich staff, they immediately contacted the deceased's families to offer help and liaised with the travel agency. They also straightaway got in touch with the Emergency Assistance Service counterpart in Beijing, as well as spotted the need to notify the government's Beijing Office for assistance on the mishap.
Only a few hours after the accident, Zurich staff had already dispatched compassionate death cash benefit of HK$10,000 to each family to ease their pressing needs. They also flew to Beijing with the family members and traveled to the scene of the accident and hospital with them to follow up. While the government's Beijing Office liaised with Beijing local government departments, Zurich staff worked closely with the travel agency and offered professional first hand assistance to the family members in going through some required procedures such as obtaining Certificate of Death and helped arrange cremation of the deceased. The family members returned to Hong Kong on 10 October, as accompanied by Zurich staff.
When a mishap like this happens, we feel the heartbreak and sorrow the same way as the affected families do. In this instance, Zurich staff tried their very best to deliver professional and efficient assistance which demonstrated customer centricity and the spirit of Zurich HelpPoint - we are truly there for our customers and their families when they are in need.
