Let's Improve the Environmental and Personal Hygiene

In the wake of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome outbreak, we have all recognized the need to maintain a high standard of environmental and personal hygiene. In November 2003, Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) sponsored a series of community activities to cultivate a sense of responsibility and healthy lifestyle. Our volunteers from the Zurich Direct Agency have been actively involved in these community events.

Brighten Our Community with Children

Organized by the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong (Cheung Sha Wan Children and Youth Integrated Services Centre) which has received HK$20,000 from our Combating Atypical Pneumonia Fund, a campaign to promote community hygiene was launched in early November 2003.

About 30 children have participated in the campaign and are committed to cultivating a healthy lifestyle for their families and the community. All the participants are required to observe environmental hygiene and discuss their suggestions with the District Officers and community members.

Health Talks

In addition, our Combating Atypical Pneumonia Fund sponsored HK$60,000 to Hong Kong Adventist Hospital for supporting health and wellness programmes for the community in the areas of disease prevention and healthy lifestyle.

Four public health talks were held at our Professional Training Centre in November 2003. Dr Santos Hilderman, Head of Health Promotion Department, and Ms Charlene Chow-pak, Health Educator of the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, shared insights into disease prevention through lifestyle management. Over 200 participants attended the health talks.
