Zurich upgraded Hospital Cash and Critical Illness Protection

Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) ("Zurich") today launched several enhancements to its hospital cash and critical illness protection plans to meet customers' changing medical needs. Enhancements include coverage from pre to post hospitalization for hospital cash plan and survival benefit for the elderly.

The enhanced Zurich's "Whole Life Hospital Cash Insurance Plan" allows new and existing customers to additionally enjoy "Pre- and Post- Hospitalization Outpatient Benefits" free of charge. The life insured can receive daily outpatient cash benefit for medical consultations for the same illness treatment taken 7 days before or 14 days after their hospitalization.

Given an increasing life expectancy, Zurich's "Whole Life Hospital Cash" has thus extended the entry age from 55 to 60 (age next birthday). By paying premiums for 10 years, this elderly group can enjoy lifelong hospital cash protection for the rest of their lives.

Zurich's "Extra Care Critical Illness Insurance Plan", covering 38 critical illnesses and providing a maximum amount payable up to 280% of the sum insured, now offers a brand new level premium plan for customers to have a better financial planning. The premium level remains the same from year to year, thus avoiding the hassle of renewing every 5 years.

Another unique new feature of this critical illness plan is "survival benefit". At the age of 86, those insured are entitled to receive a lump sum in cash equivalent to the sum insured deducting the claims amount, if any. For example, if the sum insured is HK$1 million and no medical claims were made during the time when the policy is in force, the customer can get HK$1 million in cash at the age of 86. This "survival benefit" will give the insured sufficient cash provisions in payment of the unexpected medical expenses in old age.
