Zurich HK appoints two senior executives

Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) announced two senior appointments today to cope with the development of its life and general insurance businesses. With immediate effect, Mr Kevin Lee is promoted to Senior Head of Life Operations and Chief Actuary, and Mr Eric Hui to head the SME and Personal Strategic Business Units as Deputy General Manager.

Mr Kevin Lee was promoted as the Senior Head of Life Operations this April, overseeing the overall management and operation of the Hong Kong life business and leading the various functions: life actuarial, product development, investment services, marketing and research, life administration, and sales and operation support. Prior to the new appointment, Mr Lee was the Chief Actuary and Head of Product Development, Marketing and Investment Services.

Mr Denny Chan, Director of Life Business said,” Mr Kevin Lee has not only outstanding performance in actuary profession but also extensive experience in both strategic sales development and business management in insurance industry. In his last 17 years with Zurich, Mr Lee has worked in the Life Actuarial Department in both the U.K. and Hong Kong. Also, he had set up and led the Investment Services Department and introduced “Zurich Advice”, the revolutionary sales management model for insurance agents. With his wide range of experiences in different agency functions, Mr Lee will definitely be able to bring Zurich Hong Kong’s life business to a higher echelon of development.”

Mr Kevin Lee is a Fellow Member of Institute of Actuaries and a Chartered Financial Planner. He was the ex-council member of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong and had been a working group member of the Life Insurance Council. He graduated from the University of Warwick in the U.K. with a Bachelor Degree of Mathematics.

Mr Eric Hui, the newly-appointed Deputy General Manager for SME and Personal Insurance, is responsible for the strategic development and promotion of general insurance business for the small and medium enterprises and individual segment through the insurance intermediaries, banks, consumer markets and our joint-venture insurers. Mr Hui has worked in Zurich Hong Kong for more than 18 years with extensive experience in underwriting, claims, market development and management and served as Head of Wholesale & Affinity Channel in Zurich before the new appointment.

Mr Allan Yu, Director of General Business remarked, “Mr Hui has been exploring collaboration opportunities with various organizations and is committed to promoting the business development of bancassurance. Following his promotion, Mr Hui will continue to expand our business in SME and Personal Insurance and work closely with our agents, brokers, banks and affinity group. Meanwhile, he will continue to serve in the management of our joint-venture insurers. With his dedication, Mr Hui will develop more potential market segments for Zurich’s general insurance.”

Mr Hui graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Master Degree of Business Administration. He holds the professional qualification of Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is a Fellow of Life Management Institute.
