Zurich enhances its Home Helper Plus insurance plan HK$390 annual premium to include children medical expenses for employers
27 July, 2007
In the light of the past cases of brutalities against kids by domestic helpers which have worried the working parents about the safety of their kids at home, Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) introduces an upgraded version of Home Helper Plus insurance plan. With the addition of medical expenses for family members, its protection covers the medical expenses for those junior family members who suffer from bodily injury caused by the intentional malicious act of domestic helpers. First-time enrollees are entitled to various benefits, enjoying comprehensive protection at competitive premiums.
Zurich's upgraded version of Home Helper Plus insurance plan covers the employers' liability under the Employees' Compensation Ordinance to their domestic helpers. In addition, its coverage extends to:
- medical and dental expenses incurred by the domestic helper, in which out-patient treatment includes Chinese medicine bone-setting expenses;
- extra medical expenses for family members under the age of 5 years who suffer from bodily injury caused by the intentional malicious act of the domestic helper;
- fidelity protection including financial loss resulting from fraud or dishonest acts committed by the domestic helper, such as compensation for unauthorized long distance calls;
- repatriation costs of the domestic helper due to medical reasons or administrative expenses for recruiting the replacement domestic helper;
- service interruption subsidy for employing temporary replacement due to the domestic helper being hospitalized.
To mark the launch of this enhanced scheme, first-time enrollees for Zurich's Home Helper Plus insurance plan will be entitled to a 35% discount with the annual premium at HK$390. The 2-year premium will even go down to HK$748.
In addition, in view of the increasing demand for part-time domestic helpers and doulas, Zurich adds the "Employees' Compensation Insurance Plan" for employers who engage such kind of part-time maids. Premium will be competitively priced as low as HK$240 per year.
