Case studies

rehiring

Case study 1:Replacement hiring expenses – helper missing

Background:
Sally, a busy working mother, relies on her domestic helper to manage household chores and care for her two young children. Understanding that unexpected situations can happen—especially during the initial employment period—she enrolled in the Helpersafe, which provides coverage for replacement hiring costs if the helper resigns or disappears within the first three months.

Incident:
Just two months after hiring her helper, Sally returned home to find the helper had left without notice, leaving no explanation or contact details. This sudden disappearance disrupted her family routine and created an urgent need to find a replacement to ensure her children were cared for while she maintained her work commitments.

Outcome:
Thanks to the Helpersafe plan, Sally quickly reported the incident to the police and submitted a claim, providing proof that she had hired a new replacement. She was reimbursed up to HKD 5,000 for the cost of hiring a new helper, easing her financial burden during a stressful time. This experience highlighted the importance of having protection against unforeseen circumstances when employing domestic helpers.
