Zurich launches first-in-market "Green LifeStyle Local Tour" Group Personal Accident Insurance Plan as locals turn to domestic travel amid novel coronavirus

Hong Kong, October 30, 2020 – Hong Kong is home to numerous natural attractions, including country parks, geological sites, islands, beaches and many more; the MacLehose Trail was even named one of the world’s best 20 “Dream Trails” by National Geographic Magazine in 2016, allowing locals to explore stunning hidden gems without stepping foot outside the city. In view of the ongoing outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the government has been championing the Green Lifestyle Local Tour Incentive Scheme to encourage the public to discover the city’s natural landscapes, to promote nature conservation and to support the tourism industry. Amid the new normal, a balance must be struck between livelihood activities and disease prevention measures, such as the public joining local tour groups on the premise that relevant hygienic measures are strictly followed. Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong) (“Zurich”) has announced the launch of its first-in-market “Green LifeStyle Local Tour” Group Personal Accident Insurance Plan (“Insurance Plan”), providing individuals who are group tour participants of a green lifestyle local tour or any licensed local tour, the appropriate protection against accidental medical expenses, including hospitalization expenses if unfortunately diagnosed with COVID-19, among other benefits.

The Insurance Plan is the first group insurance plan in Hong Kong specifically designed for local travel under the pandemic¹, providing HKD100,000 accidental death, up to HKD100,000 disablement and up to HKD5,000 accidental medical expenses in its list of benefits². And in response to the current situation, the insured is also entitled to hospitalization expenses under the medical coverage if he/she is proven to have contracted COVID-19 during the insured trip.
